Avoid this magazine company!!

Not a lot of things get to me. I, usually, let everything just roll off my back and don't give it a second thought. But today, I got rightly ticked off. I was looking through all my bills that came in on Monday. I had a busy week and knew that none would be due within the week, so I didn't worry about them. Well, I had decided back in April I was going to try out Parenting School Years. It seemed like it would be a really neat magazine. Well, I opened it and it's not due till the 24th of May. I think, good I can pay it online next Friday and be great. I then remember that I was supposed to be getting the "Guaranteed 1 Risk-Free Issue." I thumb through the rest of the mail and it's not there. I know I have received it prior because I get the mail everyday myself. I decide to get online and see about it. I finally get logged into their customer service page and click onto the loss/damage issue tab... that's when I get ticked off! It says in the account status box that my account (which I took the subscription out on April 16th) has been suspended due to owing $20. I look back at the bill and it says due date 5/24/09. I have to hunt for their phone number (which is wrote in small print on the back of the bill and it's not even listed on their site!!) and call it. It just goes to a busy signal!! I have tried off and on for over an hour now and still nothing! What kind of business still has busy signals? And another thing I noticed on the back of the bill (in fine print): "If the Post Office alerts us that your magazine is undeliverable, we have no further obligation unless we receive a corrected address within 2 years." Everyone just avoid them!

Avon

I am now an Avon representative! I have sold it once before, but stopped when we were trying to have a baby. Ideas for home-based businesses

I'm on medical leave from Wal-Mart. I hurt my foot. They have told me it was a particle rip to my Achilles tendon. However, I am going to a specialists.... as soon as my Dr's office calls me back with an appointment!!!..... I hate waiting on them! They take FOREVER to do anything! Since I've been on leave I have been looking into home-based businesses. I have been torn between working and staying home full-time. I only work part-time, but I really feel like I miss a lot with my daughter!
I have decided to try Avon. My Aunt Jane (God rest her soul) sold Avon for many years and was really good at it! She had customers that stuck with her for the duration of her career. I am just so nervous that no one but my Mom and sister will buy from me. I guess I'll have to see.
Does anyone have any recommendations for me? I am open to all suggestions! Please just leave a comment.

Saving Money

I have been on a mission to save money for the past couple of years. It all started when my husband, Derek, was laid off from work. I worked, at the time, for McDonald's as a manager. We struggled for a while, but with the grace of God, we made it through. Today, we still have our months where it seems we won't make it. It's during these months that I find myself looking for new ways to make the dollar stretch.
The purpose of this blog is to share with everyone what I find. My hopes are that someone might have an easier time based on my findings. I will share with you all how I am able to go to the grocery store and save a good $50 or more a trip. I will share my recipes for making laundry detergent (which, I might add, gets our clothes cleaner than the store-bought varieties I once bought!), fabric softener, and many other household cleaners! I will, also, let you into my other little money-saving secrets! If anyone has any secrets that they would like to share, feel free to post them in the comments.
